Christine Tiday | Director of Academics see class page send email
Hello! My name is Christine Tiday and I am the Director of Academics at Carlisle Christian Academy. When I began teaching at CCA in 2007, I had been planning to spend a few years working with Wycliffe in a mission school in Cameroon. With a sudden change of plans I found myself teaching here in central Pennsylvania.
It didn’t take me long to realize that there are mission schools right in the United States. What is a mission school? To me, a mission school is a blend of families, teachers and students who believe that children can be educated in a Christian environment. Class sizes are intentionally small and curriculum is designed to inspire kids, give flexibility to teachers and to provide families with co-laborers as we all strive to raise up the next generation. With this in mind, a mission school is built as a labor of love. Teachers and parents alike sacrifice to make a school like this a reality.
So whether you are at Carlisle Christian Academy for the full 13 years or for a season, I welcome you. This is a place where God is moving. We are not perfect, but we are a group of families, teachers, and staff who are joined with one purpose.
Our mission is to inspire individual students through the spiritual foundation, academic studies, physical training, and social consciousness required to provide Godly leadership in their families & communities.
~The CCA Mission Statement
As for me, I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a B.A. in Hispanic Languages and Cultures in 1996. I worked as a Spanish and Science teacher for 13 years before spending one year as Principal and then moving into the Director of Academics role. This summer I completed my Master’s Degree in Education through Lock Haven University.
My husband and I, along with our two teenage boys, love the great outdoors as well as reading and traveling. In June of 2014, my husband and I flew to Peru to do a 4 day hike to Machu Picchu. Huff… Puff… It was amazing! Our other travels include trips to every continent except Antarctica and, believe me, it is on the list.
My favorite Bible verse is Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
