Michelle Califf Secondary Principal

mcaliff@carlislechristian.org

I began teaching Math in 2009 and I am thrilled that God has called me to serve as the Secondary Principal at CCA! I have had the privilege of teaching in a variety of settings including, a rural high school in Warren County, PA before serving in an inner-city alternative education program in Lancaster and an adjunct professor at LBC. Most recently, I taught a variety of courses and held several leadership roles at Lancaster Mennonite School’s Hershey Campus to sixth through twelve graders. I served as the Day Day Director at Hempfield recCenter for two summers where I supervised daily operations, behavior monitoring, and ongoing training of staff. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Math Education and a Psychology minor from Geneva College and a Master of Education in the Art and Science of Teaching from Wilkes University. I have also earned an Anabaptist Learning Institute Certificate, an Instructional II PA Teaching Certificate for Mathematics 7-12, and Professional ACSI Certification as a Secondary Principal.

As a teacher, I believe in reflecting on my lessons so that I can continue to improve as an eduator and maintain high expectations for my students. I love getting to know my students as individuals so that I can build lessons that meet their learning needs. I look forward to getting to know the students, staff and school community!

Some of my hobbies include taking my dog, Chloe, for walks, traveling, reading (let me know if you have a suggestion), and hanging out with my 11 nieces and nephews! I am a member of Derry Presbyterian Church in Hershey where I serve on the Youth Ministry Team, Long Range Planning Committee, and periodically play the flue for services.

One of my favorite Bible verses is Proverbs 27:17, “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” This verse is a constant reminder that developing a deeper faith requires a community where we grow and serve together.
